A clear definition doesn’t mean a clear result
The task for now is making it clear who is working for linear theory and who is nonlinear. Upon a clear and concise definition of linearity, it should not be difficult to make a distinction, while sometimes it’s exactly the opposite. Just like the nice people and bad people…

Summary
The followings are a summary for the last month:
1, Summarizing the studying and working situations in OU for last 10 months.
2, Having a look at Air Force Academy and attaining some direct feeling of it.
3, Observing and thinking the influence of pragmatism to the US nowadays.
4, Considering the advantages and disadvantages of system theory from the view of philosophy.
5, Organizing a discussion group and talking about the grad students’ situation in OU.
These five aspects make me understand the society and university in a more depth and breadth, although they are not direct work for control science. In the next part of summer, I want to firstly finish a literature review to build a general picture of the field where I am in; secondly finish the paper last quarter left; revise the class report; at last, make a step forward for the website of our lab.

Comprehensive Philosophy
When we consider the future of philosophy, most of us will be shocked by the largeness of this topic, while attempt to find the answer, we cannot help asking: what is philosophy. However, it seems an even larger topic.
There is no single definition of philosophy can be uncontroversial.
Love and pursuit of wisdom by intellectual means and moral self-discipline.
A belief (or system of beliefs) accepted as authoritative by some group or school.
The rational investigation of questions about existence and knowledge and ethics
Any personal belief about how to live or how to deal with a situation;
Philosophy is the discipline concerned with questions of how one should live (ethics); what sorts of things exist and what are their essential natures (metaphysics); what counts as genuine knowledge (epistemology); and what are the correct principles of reasoning (logic).
Therefore, the future of the philosophy must take all the advantages of the philosophy before, which is called comprehensive philosophy.
Theory & Experience
Theory is used to describe experiences partly. Experiences are knowledge from direct feelings, including eyes, ears and so on, while theory includes this kind of logic description for the feelings. Therefore, the theory cannot totally describe the experiences, and the other part of the theory is to be beyond the sense, as the mankind can use only several kind senses to feel.
Nature never makes things for mean or no use. – John Locke
No man’s knowledge here can go beyond his experience. – John Locke
Custom, then, is the great guide of human life. – David Hume
Reason is the slave of the passions. – David Hume

Cannot Learn Philosophy from Philosophy
The development of ontology is depended on the knowledge development of all the other sciences about knowing human being. Therefore, we know the life and other sciences firstly, and then ontology. The knowing of enough “where” is the basis of philosophy, and then the general laws of philosophy are used to analysis the other part of “where”.

Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel: Evangelist of the absolute. (1770--1831)
Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel: Evangelist of the absolute. (1770--1831)
There soon creeps into the misconception of already knowing before you know. ---- Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel
Hegel’s first published book was about the difference between Fichte’s philosophy and Schelling’s, and his own philosophy can be seen as being to some extent a conflation of these two.
Like Schelling, Hegel saw the reality as an organic unity, and one that was not in a stable condition but in an ongoing process of development.
Also like Schelling, he saw the ultimate goal of this development as being the achievement of the self-recognition and self-understanding.
However, he did not, as Schelling did, identify the whole process with nature.
The most influential works are:
The Phenomenology of Mind (1806)
The Science of Logic (1812)
The Philosophy of History (1818)
The philosophy of Right (1821)
The Worship of the State.
Man owns his entire existence to the state. ---- Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel
There are two kinds of people: right Hegelian and left Hegelian. Hegel is the founding philosopher of right German nationalism, culminated as Hitler, and the most important of the left Hegelian is Karl Marx. The split of the right and left Hegelian explains a fact which puzzled many people, namely that the same philosopher, Hegel, was the intellectual grandfather of both Nazism and Communism.
We can say the philosophers don’t have to take the responsibility for what they said, because they just said what they feel, what they see and what they analyze. However, for the social engineering guys, every detail of their moving will cause the changing in the real society.
The Talking Before
Most of the talking before with those many friends is not thinking of the philosophy of the real life, but the philosophy of the imaginations in ideal life. If we were thinking the real life philosophy, then the thinking and life is one unit. However, now it’s because that kind of imaginary thinking was separated with life, and the object of that kind of thinking is not the real life, but just look for the happy without facing the reality, and it might be better to drop out this kind of thinking. While it cannot be denied about that thinking that time, since if there was no before, there would be no now or future. Just nowadays, these were really childish, but childhood is really significant for everybody, and cannot imagine what if the person grows up without a childhood. Many people went through idealism to realism and with both of them finally.
Worldview of System
The development of thinking mode is the essence of the mankind development.
The reality is a system, which is an ongoing process of development.
Like Schelling, Hegel saw the reality as an organic unity, and one that was not in a stable condition but in an ongoing process of development.
We now view the reality as a dynamic system, changing with time and space and an ongoing process of development, which latter half is the same with Hegel. Our view is from the whole, and here we understand the conception stable in a different way: some kinds of moving is also called stable. There are two kinds of stability in general: whole stability and local stability. The whole stability is the usual situation of the universe, and the local ones are different according to different system properties.
All the things in the world are including the characters of all the others, which are called the unit of man and heaven, and also unit of thing and heaven, and also the unit of man and thing, and so on. These are the same. Man, as a part of this world, is similar with this world, which can be called “self-similarity”.
The existence of one is meaningful for both the oneself and the whole system. Being achievement of self-realization and self-understanding are all because of the understand of the whole system, just like the man, he is alive for both himself and his nation, and also we can see the human being. Not only any one of the two: individualism is focused on self, and communist or nationalism worships the state, and both of them have the disadvantages from their own properties.

Name: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Pittsburgh had its beginning as a fur-trading post around 17th century. It’s a significant fort for French as the geographical position, in the middle of their territory from Montreal Canada to New Orleans around the middle 18th century. However, the dream of French vanished when the English captured the fort and rebuilt it. The English named it in honor of their Primary Minister, William Pitt, and designed the garrison town of Pitts-borough, or Pittsburgh.
There are two hostile camps about the name of “Pittsburgh” around 100 years ago: those who wanted to spoil the Pittsburgh with the “h”—as it had been from the beginning—and those who wanted to drop the “h” to conform to a more uniform and common spelling.
Anyhow, at last, “h” is here to show the difference between other 12 Pittsburgs in US, such as Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and so on.

Who we live for?
There are a lot of nature majesties in the US, while there are also a lot in other countries. Many people from other countries want to come into the US, while a lot of American want to go to China to see what is Forbidden City or Great Wall. Everybody is looking forward to see what they haven’t seen.
While in the US, maybe the people have done more about how to enjoy life, including hiking, skiing, camping, hotels, adventure and so on. the woman, who is in charge of cleaning the labs in our college, said to me that day, she would spend her summer break to North Carolina, to look at the animals in the mountains.
Enjoy life may be called a world view, while… maybe it’s more common to say, I want to do something for our country, just like in most of our childhood, what the school and news told us, and is called patriotic education.
Who we live for?
When I was in the top floor of the capitol hill, some American children singing the national anthem there, is it a good patriotic education?
We live for the person ourselves, also the country our motherland. If we are not from the view of nation, maybe we have to say we should do something for the whole human being world. Enjoying life for self is one aspect and donating ourselves to the human being is another aspect.
