Swimming Butterfly
Efficient technical skills matters the most when racing and competing at a high level and carries over to every level of swimming. When you’re working on any stroke, it’s very important to focus on getting skills correct at a slow speed and gradually work up to use skills at faster speeds.
The key of butterfly swimming is managing all the elements by using the body core to direct movement. What’s one of the things we found about butterfly today is that we’re trying to get very flat forward motion instead of a lot of up and down movements.
Three basic points of butterfly: 1, a strong steam line underwater kick; 2, a straight arm recovery over the water at forward direction; 3, a breathing position which is to minimizes the up and down movement of the head and maintains a proper body line.
Three advanced points of butterfly: 1, a very soft hand entry and catch position; 2, an advanced hip timing and relation to the hands (Hips at highest point before hands enter water); 3, a constant kicking motion (Maintaining constant kicking is critical in maintaining velocity particularly over 200 meters).
